DEADMAU5

by Mike Romero

To say deadmau5 has left a permanent mark on the face of electronic music would be a vast understatement. He's one of the most respected electronic music producers in the modern era, and has pushed the genre forward in countless ways.

You could say that pushing boundaries and innovating are second nature to deadmau5 at this point. That's why he teamed up with Soundscape for an exclusive virtual concert series. Soundscape is billed as the premier musical metaverse experience for VR and PC. Nominated last winter for five international XR Awards, Soundscape is raising the bar for immersive digital music experiences.

What is a "musical metaverse?" Think an explorable, open-world format with customizable avatars and ways to interact with your environment and other users in realtime. The deadmau5 metaverse performance occurs in real-time and showcases state-of-the-art graphics, powerful audio reactivity, immersive performance controls, and an unparalleled avatar system. It's the first major VR experience built natively on Unreal Engine 5, and it looks gorgeous.

“Soundscape has always been a work of art in our eyes, and with this release, we’re taking that vision to new heights by blending film and immersive art,” says Soundscape founder Eric Alexander.

“Since our inception in 2017, our mission has been clear: to create and deliver transformative experiences for fans and artists alike."

Some of these transformative experiences include cross-platform play between PC and VR devices; Soundtag, an experimental psychedelic soundshooter; and their proprietary Sonic AI that powers a unique audiovisual experience every time, even if you're rewatching a performance you've already seen once before. You can fly. You can light paint. You can watch performances from infinite vantage points. There are also integration capabilities with your own music.

We recently had our Editor-in-Chief, Walter Robert, and Managing Editor, Zach Collier, take Soundscape for a spin at our office. They loved it.

“This release allows anyone with an internet connection to enjoy the groundbreaking combination of music and technology, and we’re looking forward to delivering even more immersive experiences with major artists next year," says Alexander.

Soundscape will be releasing a collaboration with Chris Lake & Fisher in 2025, with other major artists to follow. Past concerts include notable artists like Griz, Evanescence, Slash of Guns N’ Roses, Goose, Umphrey’s Mcgee, and more.

See why Soundscape was named "XR Rising Company of the Year" at the 8th Annual XR Awards in Rotterdam, NL. Over ten years of development, refining, and innovation have proven Soundscape’s unwavering mission to transform how music can be enjoyed and experienced all over the world.

Soundscape is now available for purchase and download exclusively on Steam for VR & PC play at $39.99. For a limited time, users who purchase the game can get a free poster from renowned rock artist Jeff Wood.
