Comme des Garçons collabs with Freitag for the holidays
Holidays with Freitag
Some things just never go out of style. Just like the Freitag bags – courtesy of Markus and Daniel Freitag’s sustainable bag manufacturer born out of Zurich. They have been around for a long time and are now better than ever – because Comme des Garçons founder and designer Rei Kawakubo added her own touch to the everyday bags. Now festivity meets versatility and the brands come together to create a limited collection of upcycled bags. We always loved Freitag for their edge of innovation and their focus on sustainability that shines through every collection.
The collection entails five up cycled bags crafted solely out of used truck tarpaulins provided by Freitag. They have been produced in Japan, where the bags are normally produced in Europe. Available in a vibrant colour way and ranging from messenger bags, to tote bags, to shoulder bags and to grocery bags – the aesthetic of Freitag is still there, just with a touch of captivating art by Kawakubo. The prices range from approximately £180 to £360 pounds.
“We, as CDG, have always enjoyed the meeting of minds and creative values, where the result of the coming together is greater than the sum of its parts. I have been using FREITAG for many years. They were amongst the first to deeply address the recycling and sustainability issues the world faces today,” shared CDG President Adrian Joffe.
The Holidays with FREITAG collection is now available to shop at selected Comme des Garçons and Dover Street Market stores globally. Selected Comme des Garçons and Dover Street Market stores will feature in store pop-ups as well.
