SAINT LAURENT LIVE SESSIONS CONTINUES WITH KEEP DANCING INC
Saint Laurent’s head creative Anthony Vaccarello has booked the synth-pop trio for the brand’s latest live sesh.
The last year has seen enough live streams, virtual gigs and e-concerts to entertain the world twenty times over, so it’s no wonder some of us are just a tad fatigued by our new ersatz life. If anyone’s doing it right, though, and making us genuinely feel like we’ve been plunged into the dingy, dank depths of an inner-city club, it’s fashion house Saint Laurent.
They’ve been running a ‘Live Sessions’ series from the River Droite, their new-ish boutique location offering a mix of YSL gear and offbeat curios: cameras, condoms, corkscrews, comics (and some non-‘c’ stuff too). Last up was Franky Gogo, taking their alternative electro-pop into darker realms, as if La Roux and Christine and the Queens had joined forces at an underground rave.
Now, it’s the turn of outfit KDI (Keep Dancing Inc), their only KPI being to ensure you are grooving along from start to finish. Sharply dressed and fitted with slick, tight synth-pop tunes, they remind us a little bit of Phoenix, rising from the ashes of a festival’s indie tent. Their debut EP ‘Embrace’, released in October of last year, was a winner, produced by top-dog producer Tom Carmichael (Kendrick Lamar, Chance the Rapper, Haim) between Paris and Margate.
They’ll be performing three tracks live later today, beamed across the world from Saint Laurent’s hub, just a couple weeks after it launched a new photobook titled Rive Droite Editions Purienne. With KDI’s track-record, it should spark some serious moves, and we’re keeping all fingers-crossed for some in-store ephemera improv (corkscrew percussion, anyone?)
KDI’s performance will be broadcasted on the Saint Laurent channels: Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, Twitter and on the official website YSL.COM.
