no na are back today with “the one”, a glossy, slow-burn single that leans into the group’s growing flair for world-building.
The all-Indonesian quartet – Christy, Esther, Baila, and Shaz – have only been around since early 2025, but they’ve already developed a knack for pairing cutting-edge choreography with a distinct visual identity. This track stretches that instinct into something looser and more atmospheric, rooted in hazy 80s synths, soft string motifs and production that gives the song an after-hours intimacy.
The music video pushes the concept even further. no na dial into a psychic hotline in search of a destined match, stepping into a retro TV universe packed with analogue screens, neon haze and tongue-in-cheek infomercial energy. The group’s delivery keeps the concept feeling sharp through easy chemistry and choreography carried by the group’s natural sync. The end result lands like a late-night broadcast you stumble across and refuse to turn off.
Since their debut, no na have been positioning themselves as Indonesia’s first global girl group – a bold statement, but one that already has some weight behind it. Early tracks like “shoot”, “superstitious”, and “sad face ☹️” sketched out their R&B-leaning pop direction, helping them build buzz well beyond Southeast Asia. Their fashion and brand footprint has grown just as quickly, with collaborations with Samsung, BAPE and Tiffany & Co. signalling where they are sitting in wider culture.
“the one” opens a different door to no na – a moodier version of the group that feels natural. If the group’s aim is to show how Indonesian identity can travel globally without dilution, this is a strong example of how to do it.
