Wilson Isidor was born in Rennes and came up through the French system, but when the moment came, he put on a Haiti shirt. He'd been thinking about it for a while. Messages had been arriving for years, long before qualification, asking him to come.
He waited until he was sure. Then Haiti reached its first World Cup since 1974, and he scored one of the goals of the tournament against Morocco, in the match that ended the run. Pride and elimination arriving in the same breath. At twenty-five he's already played in six countries and is now back at Sunderland, working through the strange quiet that follows something that big.
