Choi Yu Ree makes music for the moments that resist easy resolution. The South Korean singer-songwriter has built a devoted audience through songs that meet uncertainty, loneliness and longing without rushing to turn them into lessons. Her work is intimate but never insular: a voice close enough to feel like a private thought, opening out into melodies that give those thoughts room to breathe.

That sensibility comes into particularly clear focus on Stay: Two, the second chapter in her Stay series. Rather than presenting emotional struggle as a problem to solve, Choi Yu Ree treats it as a place worth inhabiting. Across its seven tracks, she moves through courage, memory, love, exhaustion and solitude with a lightness of touch that makes the record feel less like a confession than a companion. The title’s invitation is deceptively simple: stay with the feeling, even when it is uncomfortable; stay with yourself, even when you do not have the language for what comes next.

It is a worldview that runs through her writing. On opener “Higher,” the act of taking one step becomes its own kind of victory. “Wildflower” finds longing in the brief, fading blaze of autumn leaves; “Last Love” leaves love undefined, choosing discovery over certainty. Elsewhere, “Drift” allows comfort and anxiety to arrive together, while “At My Worst” confronts the isolating fear that no one will listen. These are not songs that claim to have healed. Their strength lies in admitting that healing is uneven, and that vulnerability can be both a wound and a way through.

The visual language of Stay: Two follows the same emotional temperature. Where Stay: One held the intensity of red, this new chapter turns towards blue: calmer, more sombre, and still deeply felt. It is a fitting shift for an artist whose songs are often interested in the space between extremes – the point where grief can contain tenderness, and where uncertainty can become a form of freedom.
