In London’s best vintage shop, Shannon Saunders met with some of her listeners to put together the video for her latest single, ‘Rips In Your Jeans’.
Tartan curtains open out to reveal a makeshift stage in Blitz London’s changing rooms. Wearing their best denim, Shannon and co pull out their best moves and sultry poses, a fantastic fusion of carefree bliss and fun.
Directed and edited by the alt-popstar herself, the track’s smooth, melodic verses and drum and bass heavy choruses are now accompanied by lo-fi visuals – the homemade essence only makes the vibrant personalities of the group shine.
Stitching together strutting cut-to-beats and attitude injected lip-syncing, the dazzling lyricism is highlighted. From the carefree belief of the gigantic hook ‘it’s alright, I can make it better’ to the cool flow of ‘hanging by a thread just like the rips in your jeans, holding it together’. Sometimes, you just have to dance it out.
We already knew that she had an angelic sleek vocal, but Shannon well and truly shows off her own wings. The energy in this video could easily take flight.
