20 QUESTIONS WITH

FIFTY FIFTY

by Mike Romero

FIFTY FIFTY has made a comeback in a huge way. Re-debuting with four brand new members in 2024, the second generation of FIFTY FIFTY unleashed their first mini-album, Love Tune, last September. Love Tune: Rewired dropped in January of this year, featuring reworked, remixed, and recontextualized versions of each track. We got to chat with the members of FIFTY FIFTY to discuss their future.
1. Each of you has a unique personality. Can you describe one thing about each member that you admire or find inspiring?

YEWON: I want to emulate Athena's language skills. We need to have conversations in various languages, and Athena has shown amazing moments when communicating using a lot of languages, so I admire her.)

2. What’s one thing you wish people knew about you that they might not realize from your stage persona?

HANA: We're putting a lot of effort into performing on stage. I hope you know how we practice from the stage to the smallest details!

3. When you were younger, what was your dream before you started pursuing music? Did it always involve being a K-pop artist?

CHANELLE: I always loved music, I had dreams of being a Musical Theater Actress, Songwriter, and K-pop artist was there as well. But it felt kind of a hard dream to achieve so while I always had it in mind, I also dreamed of being a doctor!

4. What was the moment you realized you truly loved music and wanted to make it your career?

ATHENA: I realized my love for music when I would repeatedly drag my parents to watch my performances in our living room as a child. What began as a fun hobby grew into a deep passion for performing on stage. But it wasn't until I started to listen to K-pop when I realized that I wanted to become an artist.

5. How does being part of FIFTY FIFTY make you feel about your own personal growth and your friendships with each other?

YEWON: We are members who have come together from different walks of life. We have learned a great deal from one another, and the feedback we receive from each other has also contributed to our personal growth. Furthermore, as we share similar tastes and hobbies, we have been able to build deep and meaningful friendships.

6. You’re all young artists on a big stage. What do you think has been the most important lesson you’ve learned about yourself so far?

KEENA: I consider character-building education to be the most important lesson I’ve learned. Music, such as a singer is also a profession driven by people, so I believe that we treat emotions. However, when that aspect is misaligned, everything tends to fall out of place. That is why I feel that character-building education has been the most beneficial to me.

7. Do you have a specific ritual or something special you do before a big performance to calm your nerves or get energized?

KEENA: Before going on stage, we hold hands to share our energy with one another. We also lower our voices to a certain tone, which helps us stay calm, composed, and fully showcase everything we have prepared.

8. What’s one of the most memorable interactions you’ve had so far that made you feel especially connected to your supporters?

CHANELLE: I know it sounds cliche but really every time I get to talk to my fans, receive letters from them and learn more about who they are I am so touched. They are such passionate and lovely people who support us so much. They give me so much strength in my every day, they are the reason I do what I do.

9. How do you handle difficult moments, either personally or professionally, when you’re feeling down or stressed? Do the members help each other through those times?

HANA: We rely on each other a great deal. We share our stress and concerns, working together to find solutions. This also provides us with a strong sense of emotional support and reassurance.

10. What do you love the most about being on stage? Is there a specific part of performing that feels like "home" for you?

ATHENA: The best part of being on stage is when we connect with our fans. Their warmth and support create an incredible atmosphere that makes me feel at home.

11. Who in the group is the most likely to make everyone laugh during a tough rehearsal or a busy schedule? Can you share a funny moment?

HANA: Chanelle is the most energetic member in the waiting room and before going on stage! She usually sings passionately to warm up the voice, and sometimes even dances trending dance challenges.

12. How do you stay grounded and true to yourselves, despite all the fame and attention that comes with being in a successful group?)

YEWON: We always try to maintain a grateful mindset. By doing so, both negative and positive experiences become something to be thankful for. Eventually, this enables us to focus fully present and dedicated to the moment while also strengthening our self-confidence.

13. If you could go back in time and give your younger self advice, what would you say before you started your K-pop journey?

ATHENA: I would tell my younger self to never doubt yourself and to wholeheartedly pursue your dreams. You can achieve anything you set your mind to with dedication and hard work.

14. What’s something you love doing outside of music that helps you recharge and stay inspired?

CHANELLE: I love watching movies and reading books when I can! It’s very healing and gives me inspiration in terms of my music expression or work!

15. If each of you had to describe your relationship with the other members in just one word, what would it be? and why?

KEENA: I think we’re “family.”

16. Why?

KEENA: We spend more time together than anyone else, and I know everything just by looking at the members’ expressions. I believe we are that close and truly understand each other well.

17. As a group, what’s one dream or goal you all share that you’re looking forward to achieving together in the future?

YEWON: Our one dream and goal is to meet TWENY in the world. We always expect it.

18. As we move into 2025, what are your main goals as a group? What are you most excited about for the year ahead?

CHANELLE: Our main goal is providing healing and strength, giving quality music, putting our all onto the stage and our songs. We as a group are very passionate in our work! We are very excited about the music we will put out this year, we think we will be able to show new sides of us that you haven’t seen before!

19. Do you have any big plans for new music in 2025? Can fans expect a full album, or will you focus on more singles?

KEENA: Although nothing is set in stone, this year, we plan to meet more often with our fans to communicate with them more. Please look forward to us!

20. Looking forward to 2025, are there any specific countries or regions you'd love to perform in that you haven't yet?

ATHENA: It’s tough to choose just one region, as we dream of performing all over the world and connecting with our lovely fans everywhere. However, being from Sweden, I'd love to take the stage in Europe someday.
