FANDOM and Musicow have released never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage from the making of "Something Special," giving fans their first real look at how Ahn Hyo-seop and Khalid built out the music video for their genre-crossing collaboration. The clip captures the two artists in the room together, working through a visual meant to reflect the chemistry between K-pop and R&B rather than just gesture at it.
Released 22 May, "Something Special" is Ahn Hyo-seop's debut solo single and Khalid's first collaboration with a Korean artist – a pairing that landed strongly in the weeks following its original release. The track has pulled in 7.4 million streams to date, 6.4 million of those on Spotify, and reached #33 on the Top 40 Published Chart Radio. Its lyric video has passed 1.2 million views, while TikTok's official sound sits at 31.7 million views across more than 3,200 creations. The music video itself has racked up 11.3 million YouTube views since dropping in August.
Ahn Hyo-seop's profile has surged globally off the back of voicing Jinu in Netflix's KPop Demon Hunters, and that momentum is clearly feeding into how this release is landing. Produced by Woo "RAINSTONE" Rhee (Wonder Girls' "Nobody") and co-produced by Grammy winner Troy "R8DIO" Johnson (Solange's A Seat at the Table), the track has picked up real traction beyond streaming numbers too: a Top 1% ranking among Spotify new releases in its debut week, a #1 spot on the Daily Top Songs on Shorts Chart, and #2 Most Added status at Top 40 radio.
The release also reinforces what FANDOM is building toward – a catalogue of global pairings that includes Jon Bellion and Swae Lee's "Two Car Garage" and JIHYO of TWICE and Shenseea's "Distant Lover," positioning the platform as a serious player in cross-cultural artist collaboration.
