Baby DONT Cry

Are Building Their Own Path

By Hasan Beyaz

Baby DONT Cry are moving quickly, but they aren’t rushing. Their first year as a group has unfolded with the kind of pace most rookies don’t get to experience: a debut (“F Girl”) that took off immediately, a second era that honed in on their identity, and a growing fanbase watching each new step with real investment. But when the members – Yihyun, Kumi, Mia, and Beni – talk, what stands out isn’t the momentum itself, but the way they’ve been absorbing it as it happens.

For Beni, the biggest shift has come from seeing the gap between the image of idol life and the reality of living it. She talks about effort more than glamour, and mentions that learning how to take care of herself mentally has become a cornerstone of how she understands growth. Kumi echoes that, framing her own evolution in terms of confidence – not a sudden leap, but something built one practice at a time. In her version of the story, the smallest efforts accumulate, and that realisation changes everything.

That sense of self-worth, which anchors their latest single “I DONT CARE”, shows up in the off-stage spaces of their lives too. Yihyun describes it not as something tied to performance, but something sustained by fans. Reading messages from Cherries doesn’t just encourage her; it shifts the way she sees herself. It’s a grounded interpretation of a word that often gets flattened in pop language – here, self-worth isn’t a slogan, it’s a daily way of life.

Creatively, the group is in an exploratory phase. Mia has become fixated on visuals, specifically facial expression – the kind of detail that looks effortless on camera but requires a different kind of acting and awareness. She talks about watching senior artists closely, studying how they use micro-expressions to heighten a moment. It’s a small insight, but it speaks to where the group is right now: learning, refining, absorbing.

They’re also learning each other. Yihyun recalls being unwell during comeback filming and how the members kept checking on her – a simple moment that revealed how their teamwork has strengthened under pressure. Those exchanges often say more about a group’s direction than the big milestones.

And they’re already imagining what comes next. Kumi wants to try a street hip-hop concept driven by performance, eager to show a different side of her dancing. Yihyun hopes the group can carve out a distinct identity rather than follow pre-existing paths. Beni dreams of a solo concert someday – not as an endpoint, but as a space where their growth and connection with fans can fully converge.

Baby DONT Cry entered 2025 with momentum. They enter 2026 with acceleration – steadier, clearer, and more aware of who they’re becoming.
