Baby DONT Cry

Are Finding Their Own Colour

By Hasan Beyaz

Baby DONT Cry have never been particularly interested in blending into the background. Since their debut in 2025, the four-member K-pop group – Yihyun, Kumi, Mia and Beni – have built their identity around confidence, individuality and an energy that feels distinctly their own. As the first girl group from P NATION, the agency founded by PSY, they entered an industry where establishing a recognisable identity matters almost as much as the music itself. Their debut single, "F Girl", introduced a group unafraid to express themselves, while subsequent releases such as "I DONT CARE" continued to develop that sense of youthful assurance.

But an artist's identity is rarely defined by one sound alone, and the group’s musical growth means finding new ways to express the personalities and emotions that sit at the centre of their work. Their latest single, "Replay", takes them into R&B, offering a more restrained approach that places their vocals firmly in focus. Where earlier releases leaned into brighter, more assertive energy, this time the members explore softer delivery, subtle vocal details and the emotional weight of feelings that are difficult to leave behind.

Each member has a distinct vocal tone and approach to expression, and "Replay" gives them room to explore how those differences can complement one another. Yihyun speaks about relaxing her usual vocal delivery, while Mia pays closer attention to dynamics and smaller details. Kumi embraces a more delicate tone, and Beni finds value in allowing her natural voice to come through. Together, their perspectives offer a glimpse into how the group are developing their sound.

From their interest in exploring Y2K and hip-hop-inspired styling to their ambitions for more mysterious, dreamlike concepts, Baby DONT Cry are still discovering the different sides of themselves they want to bring into the world. Their curiosity continues to open up new possibilities, while the honest emotions and confident energy at the heart of Baby DONT Cry remain central to everything they do.

tmrw caught up with the group to discuss their evolving sound, the importance of individuality and the creative possibilities that lie ahead.
