Two days, three stages, and a lineup that feels like a deserved debut for Salt Lake City—the Utah community is finally getting put on the map. And for a scene that’s only growing, it was only a matter of time before getting a bill like this.
Breakaway Utah is spanning acts from John Summit, Chris Lake, Tiësto, Kaskade closing out a sunset set, and Gorgon City b2b MPH, to Jackie Hollander plus 20+ more acts that it feels impossible to catch everything. The only problem with a bill like this is you have to choose. Since we can’t choose for you, here’s our staff picks for our most anticipated sets of the weekend.
Tiësto - Kathleen
There's no time, nor place that isn't right to lose yourself on the floor at a Tiësto set. Really, though. Nothing else matters when he's on. So expect a set thick with nostalgia i.e, long builds, emotional breakdowns, the OG stuff. The kind of energy that lives in your body more than your brain.
GORGON CITY b2b MPH - Scarlett
Gorgon City b2b MPH might be the silent killer of the whole weekend. With MPH driving the new wave of UK garage alongside Gorgon City who have spent over a decade building their signature blend of UK garage roots, layered vocals, and club-house feels like pure kismet.
Putting these two in the booth together creates a contrast that could make this the hardest-hitting b2b on the bill. Energy-driven from start to finish, this one's going to be nothing short of fantastic.
Max Styler - Harrison
No explanation is needed for why a Max Styler set is non-negotiable. Just know you’re gonna be dancing. With over a decade of producer experience, and his building label Nu Moda, Max Styler knows exactly how to read a room. Expect groove-driven, high-energy tech house with range. Range that keeps the floor moving all night without relying on a single hit to carry the set. This one will be a real release.
Chris Lake - Kuya
Chris Lake is easily one of the most anticipated sets of the weekend. Lake has been a father figure in tech house for years now, and he's not slowing down. Every set is a new experience with something different to offer, and his shows are nothing short of perfection. Prepare to be on your feet all night looking up when his next show is.
Jackie Hollander - Mars
After that tech-house introduction, it's only fitting to put Hollander right after. As our last team pick, it’s only right we close out this article with Hollander offering a set that is deep, sexy, and dark. Her melodic tech house was built to pull a crowd.
That's the beauty of a lineup like this: every set offers something different. Whether it's Kaskade blurring the lines between euphoria and reality, Jon Summit’s ability to raise the collective energy, KASABLANCA playing live on hardware, or OBAŸASHI throwing down for Utah’s local scene. No matter where you go with this one or who you see, you’ll definitely be coming back next year.
That being said, maybe now's the time to branch out if you haven't already. Skip the safe pick this time. Some of the best nights come from the sets you didn't know you needed.
