Cameron Sage From

Shows Serious Potential

By Zach Collier

Hailing from Toronto, 17-year-old singer-songwriter Cameron Sage From is already making a mark with her distinctive blend of pop/rock. Following the success of her debut single "Back to U," which amassed nearly 130,000 Spotify streams, Cameron's "Superficial" has quickly surpassed its predecessor by at least another 20,000.

Some listeners might balk at Cameron’s age. Most teenage musicians often lack the experience, maturity, and technical proficiency that come with years of dedicated practice and musical development. They may be enthusiastic and creative, but typically haven't had the time to refine their skills or fully grasp musical theory and composition.

Plus, our teen years are a period of rapid growth and change, both personally and musically, which can affect the consistency of output, expected quality, and depth of expression. I even found myself unsure of what to expect from her myself when I first pressed play. However, Cameron's track pleasantly surprised me with its polished songwriting and production.

Featuring captivating arpeggiators, stellar drum arrangements, and compelling harmonies and lyrics, "Superficial" is anything but. It stands out with its unique sound and irresistible half-time shifts in the latter part of the song. While her voice retains youthful qualities, it showcases remarkable depth and control, signaling a promising future for Cameron Sage From. When you’ve got a foundation this good, it’s only up from here.

Cameron Sage From is proving she's destined for bigger stages and broader acclaim. If she stays the course and continues innovating incrementally on her current formula, time and experience will prove powerful assets for a young artist who already knows how to maximize the talent she already has.
