“Design is Based on Paranoid and Suspect”

By HQ

In the ever-shifting landscape of fashion, few designers stand out for their uncompromising vision and fearless experimentation. Among them is Kuo Wei, founder of the Taipei-based label INF, whose approach to design has been described as both structural and transformative. A graduate of Shih-Chien University & Institute, Kuo Wei established INF in 2011, quickly gaining recognition for his mastery in pattern-making and cutting techniques that challenge traditional silhouettes and embrace the unexpected.

Wei’s philosophy—“Design is based on paranoid and suspect”—serves as a striking manifesto. Rather than designing for mere aesthetics, he builds collections that interrogate form, space, and function. His creations often blur the boundaries between garment and architecture, resulting in pieces that are as much about experience as they are about clothing.

INF has consistently pushed forward-thinking fashion narratives, presenting collections at New York Fashion Week (21AW & 22SS, in digital format) and staging physical shows at Taipei Fashion Week since 2019. Beyond fashion, Kuo Wei also runs a co-working art space, embodying his belief in creative cross-pollination and community.

For TMRW’s Q&A series, we sat down with Kuo Wei to dive deeper into his design philosophy, creative journey, and what it means to construct garments that are simultaneously paranoid, suspect, and undeniably powerful.
