Eden Rain Shares Blissful New Piano Ballad “Growing Pains”

Today one of the UK’s most intriguing emerging voices, Leeds-born and London-based Eden Rain, returns with her hauntingly beautiful new single, Growing Pains - a stripped-back, emotive piano ballad that lays bare the turbulence of loving deeply and the quiet ache of growing apart from someone you once held close.

To coincide with the release, Eden announces her next headline show at Oslo, Hackney on Tuesday 14th October. Tickets on sale here.

Growing Pains is available now on your streaming service of choice via APOLLO Distribution.

“I wrote Growing Pains with Iain Berryman and it just kind of tumbled out after I saw online that someone I used to be really really close to was moving on with their life- and I realised I didn’t know them anymore. I love so deeply and hungrily that once I care about someone, I just can’t let go. I’ll pine and pine and think about them forever… I think I’m even half waiting for them to hear this song and come back to me lol. After we wrote it, I felt honestly mortified-like I’d accidentally admitted to myself that I’m really bad at letting go, even when people have actually been pretty shitty to me. It felt kind of desperate, like… they probably don’t even think of me anymore. But I guess that’s what the song’s really about-holding on too tightly to something that’s already let go of you.” - Eden Rain

Known for her bold, expansive sounds and unique lyrical storytelling, Eden takes a more minimal, intimate approach on this new release. Growing Pains places her signature vocals front and centre - raw, unfiltered, and full of sincerity. Every breath and scratch of her voice carries weight, crafting a story of loss, reflection, and letting go.

Accompanied by a sparse piano melody and the subtle creak of background noise, the track has a raw, lived-in quality - not polished, but natural and grounded. It’s this sense of atmosphere, still, slightly eerie, and familiar, that makes the song linger long after the final note.

Lyrically, Eden remains as captivating as ever. Her words draw listeners into a personal narrative that feels both intimate and relatable. The track follows this year's releases of It’s Always Been Like This and Who I’ve Touched and a successful run as the special guest on SOFY’s recent UK tour.

More on Eden Rain

Raised in Yorkshire, Eden jokingly describes her early musical upbringing as having a “Von Trapp vibe”, full of long car journeys packed with family sing-alongs to homemade mixtapes, and multi-part harmonies sung with her siblings; “a lovely wholesome relationship with music,” she nods. Having been an avid writer of teenage poetry, she admits with only a mild cringe, it was when she sang Carole King’s ‘You’ve Got A Friend’ at a talent show aged 13 that she began to tie the ideas of writing and performing in her mind. Eden started taking piano lessons and, a couple of years later, began to pen her own music.

If some artists seem to emerge preposterously young and fully-formed, then the fact that it took Eden a while to evolve into the confident artist, sure of her own musical mindset, that she stands as now feels important. She recalls “overthinking it a lot, trying to fit into a niche that already existed” and coming out feeling empty. “The artist I wanna be is a bit rough around the edges - hopefully in a good way,” she continues. “Who I am as a person is a bit of a patchwork quilt of different things. I used to polish myself up for people, but then I looked around and the things that my friends like about me is that I’m a bit frazzled and slightly chaotic; I wanted to lean into that a bit more because that’s more genuinely who I am.”
