We like to look forward. Originally launched as a new music blog back in 2012, tmrw has grown in size and scope, landing exclusive shoots and interviews with some of the biggest celebrities in the world.
We never want to lose touch with our roots, though. You can always count on tmrw to introduce you to the new generation of tomorrow today.
Here are 5 tracks from artists of diverse genres, all under 50,000 monthly listeners. These tracks have the potential to go big. Really big.
Aubryanna – “Cover Girl”
Indie Pop
South Jersey better look out. They’ve got a budding pop sensation on their hands. Aubryanna’s debut single "CoverGirl" is an anthemic powerhouse filled with moody vibes. Featuring crisp snares, a growly synth bass, and climactic guitar work reminiscent of Julian Michael's solo instrumentals, Aubryanna delivers an impressive performance.
This debut is a definite home run, marking a promising start to her bold new career. Her voice channels the soulful tones of Alessia Cara and Tori Kelly but with a rich, chocolatey alto that sets her apart.
Riley Polanski – “Insane”
Bedroom Pop
Riley Polanski's vocal prowess shines brightly on his latest track, drawing immediate comparisons to Shawn Mendes and effortlessly capturing the essence of both modern bedroom pop and TikTok trends. Beginning with cozy, lo-fi ambience, the song gradually transforms into an anthem that exceeds expectations. Fans of Benson Boone's latest work will be smitten.
As a songwriter, Polanski displays remarkable restraint, keeping the acoustic arrangement simple yet impactful. He skillfully builds tension with subtle doubles and harmonies against ethereal, swirling synths, culminating in a satisfying drop that elevates the track to radio-ready status. Don't miss out on this gem.
Hollow Hill – “Couldn’t Care Less”
Pop/Punk
Opening with exposed vocal and classic pop punk guitar tones, this emo trio from the deserts of the American west sure know how to build anticipation. The opening is heavy, with chugging unison hits that lock masterfully with the kick drum. But Hollow Hill has mastered misdirection. You’d have no idea from the opening 40 seconds that “Couldn’t Care Less” eventually drops into an indie pop rock banger that’s danceable, singable, and synth-fueled.
Listeners will never tire of frontman Mitch Squires’ delightfully smooth pop voice, which has just enough grit and drive to fit the genre. Guitarist Caleb Browning is the brains behind the group, and his songwriting and arrangements are plotted like Christopher Nolan film, keeping you guessing the whole way through. And guitarist Owen Ferguson does not disappoint when he gets his chance to shred during the solo section. Couldn’t recommend this enough.
The Magnificent Dying – “The War”
Roots Rock
Hailing from the rugged landscapes of Pioneertown, California, The Magnificent Dying emerges as a captivating musical endeavor deeply rooted in its Old West surroundings. For those unfamiliar, Pioneertown is an 1880s-themed community nestled in San Bernardino County, accessible via a picturesque 4-mile drive. The band’s music embodies this historic backdrop, catering to "savages, outlaws, cowboys, and blacklisted drinkers" with fitting aplomb.
Fronted by writer Julian T Pinder, whose persona exudes the swagger of a bygone saloon crooner, The Magnificent Dying crafts a sound that echoes the spirit of the Wild West. "The War," produced by Chris Unck of High Lonesome Studios, employs vintage recording techniques that lend a palpable analog warmth to vocals, harmonies, organ tones, and guitars. The result is a sonic tapestry that seamlessly merges nostalgia with a rugged, Western aesthetic—a distinctive cinematic blend that has won us over completely.
Gavin Marengi – “Northwinds”
Country
Welcome to Gen Z country music. Hailing from Salisbury, Massachusetts, Gavin Marengi is making waves in the country music scene at just 16 years old, delivering a level of quality that sets him apart from many aspiring musicians. His music authentically captures the essence of American country, from the evocative slide guitar and mandolin to the rich textures of strings and subtle harmonies, reminiscent of a bygone era.
What distinguishes Gavin is his vocal style—a blend of traditional country drawl with a distinctly Gen Z TikTok influence. It's a trendy combination that resonates deeply with today's audience, marking him as a voice of the rising generation. This fusion of contemporary flair with vintage country elements is not only refreshing but also one of the standout developments in the country music scene we’ve heard lately.
Already drawing crowds to sold-out 600-person venues on the East Coast, Gavin Marengi possesses the potential to make a significant impact. His approach serves as a compelling example for aspiring artists urging them to embrace and innovate on the genre while staying true to its roots, much like Gavin has done with his music.
