Future Picks #018

5 Tracks From 5 Fresh Artists

by Mike Romero

Greetings from tmrw.

We've got our ears to the future. Some heads are in the clouds, but ours are in the weeks ahead, searching for fresh talent and new creators you’ll definitely want on your radar. Today, we’ve rounded up five tracks from all over the world, across different styles and genres. Each one deserves your undivided attention.

Let's go.

Eva Lea – "Butterflies"

Pop/R&B

This is a GORGEOUS track. It opens with Eva Lea's delicate-yet-precise vocals, followed by a drop into some R&B-infused Pop that would give Ariana Grande a run for her money. The production on this track is top-tier, with extra clicky snaps, retro synth bass, and even a guitar in the second verse that's reminiscent of 98 Degrees and *NSYNC.

Keep an eye out for the delectable harmonies in the chorus. They're phenomenal.

Noorani – "oceans"

Psychedelic/Indie Rock

Noorani, a sibling duo from New York City, delivers something striking with this song. The intro is a little slow going, but damn is it worth it. When the song finally drops, the duo incorporates great male/female harmonies, amazingly spacious synths, and such a solid groove.

Seriously. This groove. Is. In. The. Pocket.

The result is both dreamy and unsettling. The climax of the song gives you a payoff that feels as vast and engulfing as the title suggests. What makes "oceans" hit hardest is the duo’s chemistry – those sibling harmonies cut through the haze with an emotional clarity that sticks.

Heaven Or Las Vegas – "Laguna Beach"

Rock

Hailing from Italy, Heaven Or Las Vegas blends spacey, shoegaze textures and driving indie rock energy. Wielding a sharp, more immediate edge, "Laguna Beach" has vocals that deliver a punk-like bite. It's a sound that feels both expansive and raw. Catchy without losing its darker undercurrents, balancing their dream pop influences with a sense of urgency that keeps the song moving forward.

Coming off the momentum of their earlier releases and building toward their debut album Lascio Fuori la Realtà, this single shows the band’s growth in both style and intensity. Heaven or Las Vegas sits somewhere between dream and reality, chaos and clarity.

Black Cashmere – "In My Head"

Neo Soul

We were not sure what to expect for the first 20 seconds of this. The filter effects were so strange it felt like the song could go either way. Either it was going to be an absolute trainwreck of an amateur recording, or it was a very calculated artistic choice that was going to lead to a major payoff.

AND BOY DID IT PAY OFF.

The drop – and the introduction of Devon Sellers' voice – made us stank face immediately. SO. FREAKING. GOOD. Her delivery is immaculate, the melody is intelligent while still being catchy, the bass line is so groovy it should be illegal, and the drums are perfectly produced for the neo soul vibe.

And those harmonies and adlibs? Straight up sent us to the astral plane. Perfect for fans of Hiatus Kaiyote and Jumpmonk.

Psyclo – "Everybody Sucks"

Alt Pop

Pop music usually leans into heartbreak or escapism, so Psyclo’s focus on self-love and happiness feels revolutionary.

With lyrics proclaiming, "Rather spend my day off alone // Rather be in my bed on my own," this song is an infectiously energetic self-love anthem for the days when all you need is some alone time. It's a soundtrack that makes those days feel less like a defeat and more like a win.

The poduction, the vibe, the tongue-in-cheek delivery, her vocal – UGH. SO. GOOD.

Come for the quirky upbeat indie bop, stay for the electronic half time shift and anthemic outro.
