Lim Kim Releases “Insa” Featuring Bree Runway
PRE-RELEASE SINGLE AHEAD OF UPCOMING ALBUM "Exit to Nowhere"
LIM KIM has released her new single “INSA feat. Bree Runway,” accompanied by a visualizer shot in Italy. The track arrives as a pre-release single from her upcoming album Exit to Nowhere, set for release on July 22. Blending emotional tension with sleek, dance-driven production, “INSA” marks a key early chapter in the album’s unfolding narrative.
Speaking about the collaboration, LIM KIM shared that she had been a fan of Bree Runway prior to creating the track and felt she was the ideal artistic partner both sonically and emotionally. While Bree’s background in dance music naturally aligned with the song’s energy, it was the deeper emotional core that ultimately connected them. “INSA” explores the pressure of constantly performing confidence, glamour, and composure while concealing anxiety and insecurity underneath; an emotional contradiction Bree Runway immediately understood and embodied as a second narrator within the song’s perspective.
Bree Runway reflected on joining the collaboration, saying, “I was drawn to LIM KIM’s story straight away. The idea of taking time out to recalibrate, reconnect with yourself and come back with a clearer sense of who you are really resonated with me. As artists we’re constantly evolving, and I have a lot of respect for anyone brave enough to carve out their own lane. Beyond that, it’s just a really fun record. I love collaborations that bring different cultures and worlds together, and it feels exciting to be part of something coming out of Korea that has so much energy around it. I’m really happy to be involved and can’t wait for people to hear it this summer.”
LIM KIM co-wrote the lyrics, approaching the track with a focus on honesty and lived experience. She reflects on her early exposure to public life through television and
media, describing moments of emotional fatigue and disconnection that still required outward composure and professionalism. The title “INSA” draws from the Korean phrase “insa haseyo” (인사하세요), meaning “say hello” or “greet properly,” referencing the cultural expectations around greetings, hierarchy, and social performance in Korea. Within this context, the song examines the irony of polished social exchanges that mask entirely different internal emotions; capturing the exhaustion of repeating composed gestures and words while feeling emotionally detached inside.
The “INSA” visualizer marks the beginning of a video series in which each track represents a distinct chapter of LIM KIM’s life. Inspired by the overarching narrative of Exit to Nowhere, the series follows the path she has traveled through unfamiliarity, contradiction, and emotional wandering in search of her true identity. Together, these chapters form a deeply personal journey that ultimately leads to acceptance, growth, and the freedom to live as her most authentic self.
With “INSA,” LIM KIM sets the tone for Exit to Nowhere, offering an intimate first glimpse into a larger narrative that unfolds across music and visuals, where each chapter brings her closer to clarity, self-understanding, and arrival to “now here.”
