MARGED RECLAIMS HER VOICE ON BOLD NEW SINGLE "SICK"

Emerging Cardiff-born, South-London-based artist Marged releases her bold new single, SICK.

This atmospheric, genre-defying track pushes contemporary music boundaries with its experimental blend of raw, glitchy electronic production and visceral, fast-paced beats that keep you on edge. The piece seamlessly weaves powerful spoken word narration with Marged’s haunting, ethereal vocals, while unexpected classical string elements add a unique contrast. The result is a strikingly eclectic listening experience, one that transports listeners through shifting sonic landscapes, offering both tension and release in equal measure.

SICK is available now on your streaming service of choice via APOLLO Distribution.

I wrote this song during a time when I was reading Fariha Róisín’s book ‘Who Is Wellness For?’. I was thinking so much about what it means to be ‘well’, who gets to determine this for us, and asking how it is possible to ‘be individually well if we aren’t well collectively’. I thought about our responses of grief, depression, despair, resistance, and survivorship in this current moment and how these emotions/actions are gifts. I suppose I’m saying that they are a call to action, that we are not the ones who are sick, affirming that we are alive and reminding us to care for ourselves and each other.” - Marged

After making her return to the music scene last May with Bounce Back following a six-year hiatus, Marged is now focused on redefining her craft. This year, she is set to deliver music that deeply reflects her personal experiences and the core aspects of her identity, with each track serving as a creative extension of herself.

The Line of Best Fit - “Telling the story of self-determination as she reclaims her spirit after a break-up, Marged's new single was produced alongside long term friend and pop’s favourite Sakima (Troye Sivan, Little Mix, Tate McRae).”

Crescendo Magazine - “Her latest release, aptly entitled Bounce Back, is imbued with an invigoratingly confident quality that showcases pop music at its most inspiring”

More on Marged

South London-based artist Marged, originally from the Welsh capital, is carving out her own sonic space after an electrifying journey alongside Self Esteem. Performing on Jools Holland, Radio 1’s Live Lounge, and Glastonbury, she witnessed firsthand the transformative power of music on both artist and audience.

During this time, Marged delved deeply into vocal practice, a journey that culminated in her role as the voice practitioner for Alter, Altar by Jasleen Kaur, the Turner Prize 2025-winning project, uncovering the voice’s potential as a force for collective liberation. Her music is more than just sound - it’s an experience, a cathartic release that empowers listeners to embrace their resilience and strength. With intentional vocals and evocative storytelling, Marged weaves narratives of triumph over adversity, delivering them with conversational charm and raw honesty.
