Obed Padilla Rolls Up In Style With New Single “Broncos Y Benzes”
Obed Padilla, the Oceanside-based Chicano singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, is redefining Latin Alternative with a sound as dynamic as his roots - spanning Mexico, Costa Rica, and Southern California. His new single, Broncos y Benzes, is a playful and vibrant fusion of Latin hip-hop and street flair. With sun-soaked rhythms and bold cultural textures, the track transports listeners straight into the heart of Latin America, alive with color, rhythm, and soul.
Speaking on this new release, Obed shares; “I’m super excited for Broncos N Benzs to be out. I wrote it with Billy Mann and Aftrhrs. We reproduced what we had originally made and it sounds completely different from the OG version. It came out really dope. Everybody who worked on it is super talented and I’m grateful to be in the room with these guys. We’ve had a really fun time exploring different sounds and honing in on what I think is really special and needed in culture. I really can’t wait for all the new music to drop.”
This release comes on the heels of his latest EP They Told Us There’s 2 Types of Mexicans - an eclectic, genre-blending collection of music featuring collaborations from Eddie Zuko and Austin Sexton that spotlighted Padilla’s distinctive fusion of Latin hip-hop. Alongside the EP, Padilla also recently released a free mixtape on Bandcamp called Minute Made Mixtape.
Signed to Big Family Records (formerly PMR and Julian Bunetta's FAM), Obed is set on sharing his rich cultural roots with a broader audience in 2025, starting strong with a summer-ready single that comes at just the right moment.
Wonderland - “The song begins with a nostalgic, glittering instrumental arrangement, weaving together the soulful essence of Latin oldies with subtle hip-hop undertones.”
METAL - “The track, which pays homage to his heritage, contributing to a cohesive stream of music that reflects his identity and solidifies his emerging voice in the alternative hip-hop scene, offers a catchy tune, creating a peaceful soundscape with which the artist proves he has a lot to say through music.”
More on Obed Padilla
Obed Padilla of Oceanside, California is a Chicano singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who is always telling an authentically unique story. With cultural roots from Mexico to Costa Rica and musical influences like the Beach Boys and J Cole, Obed can only be described as the epitome of Latin Alternative music. Crediting his musical upbringing to his father and playing in his church, Padilla recalls, "I haven't known a lot of preachers who listened to Santana, but my pops pulled off both."
Late last summer Obed established himself as an artist on the rise with the success of the social media only releases of “Brown & Down Freestyle,” “Chicano Poetry,” “A Love Story,” and “Meek Shall Inherit The Earth.” Each one had its own viral moment amassing 5M+ views in aggregate. This gave Obed the momentum he needed to be featured on the Gary Vee Podcast, invited to Austin City Limits, and write songs with some of the most decorated songwriters and producers on the planet.
