“Once again instagram failed, when the whole world is using audio but none know about the creator," is the top comment on Ridgeclub’s popular song “do i clench my fists.” It’s an emotional blend of melancholy and aliveness, a push and pull between beauty and sadness that Abhi conjures with his saxophone in a small home studio decked in purple, green and blue LEDs. Adorned with tapestries, it’s a modest, raw setup for music that could be the backbone of a film score.

And the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

I sat down with Abhi to learn about his influences, process, and how his brain translates feelings that words simply can’t—grasping at the mystery of how that beautiful relationship between saxophone and synth could take over the entire internet.

There’s some people you come across and immediately think, “I have to know his story.” That’s how I felt the first time I heard his music on a Tiktok edit.

Growing up just outside of Toronto, Abhi—known as Ridgeclub, recently found himself amid a sea of comments flooding his page.

For Abhi, it’s about feeling it out— restraint, simplification, and surrendering to the creative process. In his own words “simpler is more often than not, better.” Which really captures the essence of Ridgeclub. It’s simple, but musically feels emotionally complex.

However, to Abhi, it’s just his devotion and creative way.

Ridgeclub’s EP crawlspace is out October 2nd, and he’s just announced his first-ever tour.
