Korean singer, songwriter, and producer SUNMI has reached a defining point in her career with the release of her first full-length studio album, HEART MAID.

Centred on the idea of “comforting listeners’ hearts through music,” the 13-track project captures the full spectrum of SUNMI’s artistry, led by the title song CYNICAL.

Known for her self-defined creative direction, SUNMI wrote the lyrics for every track and co-wrote all compositions on HEART MAID. The album blends sharp storytelling with emotional range, balancing wit and vulnerability in equal measure.

The title track CYNICAL embodies SUNMI’s signature irony and charm, asking the question “WHY SO CYNICAL?” to those who face life with distrust or sarcasm. Its slick electronic production, layered synths, and addictive hook are paired with visuals inspired by horror-comedy and traditional Korean ghost motifs, giving the performance a surreal, tongue-in-cheek edge.

Opening with the electronic intro MAID, the record moves through varied soundscapes – from the retro synth-pop pulse of DDU DDU to the band-driven BLUE! and Balloon in Love, alongside softer R&B and ballad cuts. Each track adds a piece to the emotional architecture of the album, revealing SUNMI’s expanding musical universe.
