TYGERMYLK shares beautiful keepsake ‘Babe III’

Today TYGERMYLK (they/them) revealed their emotive new single ‘Babe III’, taken from their upcoming debut album ‘Local Girl, Always Tired’.

Written in response to grief, ‘Babe III’ bottles some of the sweetest moments of TYGERMYLK’s childhood. The track arrives on their fathers birthday, which adds an extra poignancy, not only as a touching gesture to his memory but his vocals are preserved within the track for eternity.

Sharing more they explained: One summer while staying at my grandparents’ house as a child, we unexpectedly found a stray piglet wandering in the road. ‘Babe’ was my favourite film and I had begged for a piglet for my birthday that year. My grandpa was always playing practical jokes and committed to the bit to the very end, so we will never know if he somehow orchestrated the piglet's appearance or it was just a random coincidence and gift from the universe. They never made a third Babe movie but we lived it!

What began as a surreal moment became a song about grief, lineage and holding on to joyful memories when the weight of loss feels all too heavy. The first verse recalls caring for my grandpa in his final days. That time left me feeling incredibly close to him, as though our connection carried on beyond his passing. My dad, his son, was so proud to sing backing vocals on this track. I am endlessly grateful that I asked him because just a few months later, out of nowhere, we tragically lost him too. So it's now become a sonic artefact of that arm of my family as well as a time capsule of that summer.’

Tygermylk’s upcoming debut album ‘Local Girl, Always Tired’, will be arriving later this year.

Ten years in the making, it looks to be a powerful coming of age record, shaped by their life experiences, grief, resilience and tireless advocacy for LGBTQIA+ rights and disability inclusion. This new chapter marks a bold return to music after undergoing multiple throat surgeries and a battle with chronic illness. You can expect dreamy vocals, indie-pop earworms and nostalgic guitars, all underpinned with courageous honesty.

Ahead of today’s new single Babe III, Tygermylk has teased three singles so far, from their upcoming album; ‘Natali’, ‘The Deverills’ and 'Confetti’. The latter takes shape as an unapologetic queer anthem that arrived last month. Soaring with euphoria, the track is one that represents the freedom of self acceptance. “This song marks the beginning of me being completely free—gender-wise, sexually and emotionally.” Tygermylk shared.

Based in Hastings, TYGERMYLK (Hayz Harland) is a force to be reckoned with. They have been making waves since they launched in 2018 with ‘What God Would Keep Us Apart’, a track that debuted at Brighton Pride and scooped support from the likes of Scene Magazine and BBC News. An established live performer, TYGERMYLK cut their teeth busking on London’s Southbank for years, harnessing the power of vulnerability and connection. With performances under their belt already including Glastonbury and Isle of Wight festivals plus a live performance on Channel 4’s The Last Leg, they are definitely an artist to keep watching.
