Vinyl Picks #001

At tmrw, we love analog formats. We shoot on film and go nuts for a bold print layout. 3hive loves analog formats, too – especially vinyl.

By Todd Simmons

3hive is a longtime music blog, an online radio station, and a brick and mortar store in the American West. They've been harvesting the finest music from around the world wide internet since 2003 – from the golden age of MP3 blogs to the modern age of streaming and the vinyl resurgence. There are few groups out there that know music the way they do. Below are 3 albums you need to get on vinyl. 1. So You Like Slippers? by Slippers | Lame-O Records

Los Angeles artist and musician Madeline BB has launched her new project, Slippers, with a debut album titled So You Like Slippers? This record features ten irresistibly catchy, jangly, and delightfully twee power-pop tracks that grow on you with every listen. Give “XTC 1000” and “The Bus” a listen to get a taste. The album is available now through Lame-O Records. Highly recommended! I love Slippers the band, not crazy about slippers the slippers. Enjoy!

2. Continue as Amery by Amery | Night School Records

Montreal’s Amery (Amery Sanford) has just released her debut solo album, Continue As Amery, and it was a standout record of the summer. With eight tracks of lush, synth-driven electro-pop, it feels like taking a nostalgic drive in a yellow Volkswagen Rabbit to rent a VCR, with “Hotwire The Night” blasting through the speakers. The record is available now from Night School Records, and it’s been on repeat for me. I highly recommend checking it out.

3. Homosapien by Nightshift | Trouble in Mind Records

Glasgow's Nightshift have unveiled their newest album, Homosapien, and it’s a significant milestone in their body of work. This release offers eleven tracks of slowcore and melodic post-punk, enriched by the inclusion of accordion, melodica, violin, and trombone. These additions bring a fresh, textured depth to their music. Make sure to check out the single “Sure Look” and the rest of this standout record.
