Ride or Die, and a Space to Influence

By P.I.T

What do satsangs and bhajans have in common with underground UK bass music and a dj controller? You’d probably think nothing, but to YOGI they mean everything together.

Spending years behind the scenes, YOGI worked on Dr Dre’s production team, and put out releases through Skrillex’s OWSLA, as well as helping produce on culture shifting projects like Victoria Monet’s Grammy-winning title: JAGUAR II.

But it doesn’t stop there.

After working with household names for years, YOGI steps into an era where he decides it’s time to become one himself. ANGREZE marks the beginning of that journey.

The music isn’t traditional. It’s the exact opposite. YOGI brings together two genres, two cultures, to make one sound. It’s darker and bass forward, and the vocal mantras hit hard in the club, before the crowd even realises what they’re hearing. The two sides speak to each other, and the result is a spiritual energy that the room can’t help but respond to.

Ahead of the release of “Ride or Die” with Toronto’s SadBoi and Japanese rapper NENE, he spoke with tmrw about where his sound was born, why the studio is where the foundation is laid, and everything that makes YOGI who he is at this point in time.
